Description: If you or your team lack good writing skills, don't despair: very few people have an innate ability to write well. But writing success needs the right approach: 'sheep dipping' seminars by non-specialists are unlikely to work – especially if they rely on PowerPoint presentations to guide them through the material.
In our experience, a successful programme:
* starts by understanding the skill level of each delegate
* is engaging, interesting and relevant
* includes continuous learning.
Three steps to better business writing
The best way of improving writing skills is to find out what people already know and build from there. We therefore start by analysing a sample of writing from each delegate and producing a graph to show them which areas of their writing to focus on. The areas that need development are then built into a customised training programme, which we run at a location of your choice. Finally, we follow up with a coaching clinic, and provide a year’s support for ad hoc writing queries.
Stage 1: Writing sample analysis
We base our approach to improving writing skills on a unique, detailed individual (and confidential) pre-course analysis of each delegate's work.
Stage 2: Practical, tailored training
The second stage is a one-day training course. This is intensive, interactive and practical. In-company training courses include tailored, authentic exercises, to enable delegates to use their skills as soon as they get back to their desks.
Stage 3: Coaching clinic
It is impossible to change the habits of a lifetime and guarantee writing success in a day. But short, individual follow-up support can make this goal more attainable, and provide participants with tools that, with practice, will enable them to continue improving.
